Looking for photos?

Last week, during a TeachersFirst online session about Animoto, Stephanie Bass shared this Wakelet as a photo source for students.  When you look at the site, please notice there are two parts- the first for students and the second for students.  I have not tested all these sites in the district for access.

If a picture is worth 1000 words...

 

Then what are 40 photos worth?  In this blog post from the NYTimes, they share the group of “What’s going on in this photo”- a great series of photo prompts.  The article also includes teaching suggestions and resources. (The photo above is part of the collection).

Ever wanted to put your students in a photo?  Now you can easily remove the

background from a photo with Remove.bg. In the sample above, I took the photo at my desk

then removed the background (step 2).  Then I created a Google Slide (with the

background I wanted) and placed myself in the photo. These could be

interesting for all types of digital projects.

Looking for free images

While PhotosforClass is my personal choice for images, Eric Curts (my favorite Google Guru) recently shared a blog post with 18 sites for schools.  I haven’t test driven all of them (so I cannot guarantee they will all work in our district) but I was thrilled PhotosforClass made the list.  Here’s the link to his post.

Put yourself on the money (or wanted poster)!

Festisite is an image editing site that will allow you to put your image on the money (and from various countries). You can also add your face to a playing cards, posters, or logos. This is similar to PhotoFunia (but with fewer choices).
