Black History for K-2

Ever hear of Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum?  There are PBS resources for younger learners (their tagline is that everyone was a kid once!).  In addition to the short video there are downloadable materials (sentence starters, biographical information, etc).  Here are the links to George Washington Carver and Nora Neale Hurston.

Black History in Math Class

This was an interesting article from Middle Web from Mona Iehl.  I can relate to her desire to show students the wide range of mathematical talent and more importantly, that they are represented in that group.  She offers several suggestions to merge cultural awareness with math.

Famous African Americans

I saw this site reviewed in Teachers First (you can see it here) and it looks perfect for grade 6-12 students. You will find biographies from  A. Philip Randolph to Zora Neale Hurston and many more in between.  Each article includes an image but there are advertisements.  You might want to extract information from the site before sharing it with your students.
