Really understanding health headlines

In this middle-high school lesson from the New York Times, your students can learn to decipher the truths (or myths) behind health headlines (“Chocolate found to stave off death!”).  Help them read behind the headlines and to think critically.

Here's a  project from Caileigh Giovinco's students.  Her students used ChatterPIX (a free app) to record their information about King Tutankhamen.  While the recordings are limited to 30 seconds, they merged two  sessions to tell his story.  What story could your students tell?

This National Geographic site Eat:The Story of Food is a companion to their video presentation.  Click on a food type and see how it has changed over time.  This would be interesting in both social studies and nutrition classes.
